This little girl was abandoned in the streets of Juarez, Mexico during one of the first few cold days on the border between Texas and Mexico. She was being chased by a street dog. Luckily, Paty Alvarez, happened to notice that one of the female strays was trying to get "something" underneath their taco stand. When she peered beneath the wooden planks, the Baby was there - scared and shrinking into a dark corner out of the dog's reach. Paty scooped her up and took her to the vet the next day.
Paty has over 130 dogs in her home sanctuary and cares for close to 30 dogs in the streets that make up her neighborhood.
The Baby was very ill when we first received her. She barely ate, was pronounced blind by a veterinarian that saw her in Mexico. At one point, she had blood in her stools (yes, we freaked out) and would scream throughout the day.
Currently, the Baby is healthy! She has received her first vaccines, gained 3 pounds (she is now a whopping 6 lbs!). We think she is a rat terrier blend, very smart, and opiniated. She plays well with other dogs, is crate trained, and communicates her needs. We are accepting applications for her adoption.
